Getting older

So it occured to me today that I am closer to 40 yrs. old than 30 yrs. old.

I have always been proud of my age and honest if anyone asks b/c I feel I have been blessed by God for 35 & 1/2 years of life on this earth, and thankful every morning for all that He has given me. And besides didn't I hear the other day that 40 is the new 30?

I'm sure this is the type of older person I will be...don't you?

Memorial day and getting fit

First let me say Happy Memeroial Day to my granfather , and my dad. My GP died the day before my dad turned 9. He died in Okinawa Japan during WWII. I remember him today the grandfather I never knew. To my Dad who served in the Navy and Navy reserves. And to those who have served since, and serve today. To those who have given their lives, either fatally, or come home injured or broken, or whole, and also to those who are family members...Thank You!

Moving on...

I bought a Wii fit balance board today. If you remember we bought a Wii several months ago, and it has been fun but not all I wanted it to be b/c I can't seem to afford more games, so we have just been sticking with the wii sports that comes with it. So today I bought the balance board. It was pricey but....it has yoga, aerobics, strength training, fitness with BMI, and weight measurements, and goals....So much fun! More fun than exercise has ever been thus far! Definitely worth the money for me to have fun, and exercise in my living room...and did I mention it's fun? Hopefully in a few months I can write to you and say I've hit my goals!! I need to loose atleast 30 lbs! I'll go on record and say I would like to do that by Sept. 1st. That is 2lbs. a week. It should be easier in the month of June b/c my kids will not be home to sabatoge my eating plans, and hopefully I will be on track well enough that I can stick with it in July and August too!

By the title it sounds like I spent my day in jail huh? Too funny...

Anyway today was the day I drove to Harrah's casino and saw the "Personally Paula" show.

Here are 2 videos I took with my phone so the quality is not that good visually, but the first one she is being introduced, and says a brief hello, and the 2nd is as she is leaving I say bye paula thank you and she says thank you darlin....to ME! It's hard to see but you can if you try. Her hair is white so it kind of sticks out al little in the dark. I was only able to take 3 pics with my camera b/c the batteries died on me, and the pics from my phone were poor quality...

Home Alone

Honey left with the girls for the weekend. Well he'll be back Monday night but the girls are staying in TX until July 1st. I'm taking advantage of the alone time, I went to see What happens in Vegas, and I rented Mad Money, Over her dead body, and Jane Austen book club.

A Total girl movie weekend.

Except for Sunday when I go see Paula Deen!

Bunko Babe

Well last night I was invited to sub for a coworker of Honey's, at another coworker's home for a bunko game. I had never played Bunko before, and it was fun! I actually got a bunko! However I did not win any moolah.

When we get settled or if we ever move back to TX this would be a fun monthly girls night out.
I'm also going to check into the left-right-center dice game.


It was nice to share a night out with some females, but it was strange only knowing 1 other person in this group of 11 ladies. I guess that's what happens when you live so far away from your friends. Speaking of friends...

This is one of my favorite movie quotes, and one I use often...I usually refer to my husband as Honey around the house. Most of the time I'm getting ready to say something to him I usuallly pause (b/c I'm still thinking through what I'm about to say...yes sometimes I actually think before I speak..LOL) Anyway I pause and say Honey....? and either I or the kids will chime in and say where's my super suit? and then we'll have a good chuckle and I'll finish with what I was going to ask or say.This also relays back to the cartoon from just before Mother's Day.I don't know how to link to it from this post.

Angels and nuns

We spent the weekend at honey's Dad's house, and Cindy (my step-MIL) told a story to me that I would like to share (with her permission). She is a massage therapist, and she was working on a client who was flying out the next day to Italy on vacation. As she was ending her massage she said a prayer (to herself) over her client that God would give His angels charge over her as she traveled, and when she finished she told her client about this prayer. Several days later through a mutual friend Cindy learned that the client had called to let them know she arrived safely, and that her plane was full of God's angels...... a plane full of NUNS!!! How great is that?

Schools out for Summer...

well for me anyway. I took my last final this morning. College Algebra, Yuck. The good news is no more math! Well except for med calculations...I wonder how hard that is....
Summertime will be filled with the pool, beaches, and Texas fun!

Paula Deen.....

Well I just purchased a ticket to go see her at the grand opening of her buffet in Harrah's Grand Casino in Tunica, MS on May 25th! She will be speaking and taking questions from the audience,

so do any of you have any good questions I could ask if I got chosen to ask something? I'm so sad to be going alone but I didn't think any of my friends would be willing to drive atleast 8 hours to see me and then 3 hours to see Paula, and then back again....But if I'm wrong....come on!

So shopping cheers me up! I went and bought my Mother's Day present today...

I got 4 new tires for my truck! Well new to my truck...I so needed them!

So, in my budget I have set aside some $ for me to get myself a little something special once every 2 weeks. Sometimes I save up my "allowance" and get something not so little, yet not big either. But I almost always buy something on sale. For example... 3 weeks ago, Penny's had a buy 1 get the next for 88cents. The girls got some Summer clothes and I spent my $ on 2 cute shirts and a pair of capris. Last week I wore 1 of those cute new shirts and last weeks $15 black pants, to dinner with Honey's boss & coworkers . The pants were on sale for 50% off of course! So this week even though I spent more than my normal amount it was all on sale!

Side note...my husband loves brand new socks! If it were financially reasonable he would never wear the same pair of socks twice...

Well I feel the same way about panties! I love new, pretty panties! I know TMI...

So I went to VS today and bought a new bra and panties and saved like $28!!

I love to tell and hear stories of big savings..(like B's from a few weeks ago)

Bring on the savings brags!!!

I can't wait to see what ya'll got for Mother's Day!

Even though you will not "see" what I got I know you share in my excitment...I'm not so bummed about the B's anymore!

I also found a uniform store with on sale scrubs at the mall...is it too early to buy some scrubs?

Whew...

OK 2 finals down 2 more to go.

A&P I needed 100 to maintain my A in the class....missed 1 (that I know of)

so that would put me at a 89.4 average...hopefully he'll bump me up.

W. History needed a 90 to make an A in the class...

feelin good about this one..I'll have to wait and see.

Strep and finals

Well the good news is I don't have strep just a bad sore throat. I went and had it checked out today b/c this week last year (finals/Mother's Day) I did have strep throat.
Tomorrow I will spend the day studying for my 2 finals on Thursday, and the one Friday morning. then I have a break until my last final Tuesday morning.
Plenty of time to make all A's and rest right?

I had to revert to Cinco De Mayo

(which they don't even celebrate down in Mexico)

But the trip we took there to celebrate CDM was a blast!

any reason to go to the beach and vacation with our friends.

Maybe next year it will be Happy October 2nd who knows....
